Curbside trash pick-ups are generally scheduled for Friday mornings, with a 1-day “slider” schedule in effect for weeks involving a holiday.
Weekly trash collection is generally limited to 3 containers per household, with exceptions made for call-ahead bulk item collections.

RECYCLING
Curbside recycling is scheduled for Tuesday mornings, with the 1-day “slider” schedule also in effect for weeks involving a holiday.
No limit is placed on recycling amounts, with the general “bulk item” call-ahead requirement in effect.

YARD WASTE
Organic yard waste is recycled by the County through curbside pick-up from approximately April through mid-January every year. Pick-up days coincide with our Recycle pick-up schedule (usually on Tuesdays).
There is no limit to the amount of yard waste that can be placed curbside for collection.

FOOD SCRAP RECYCLING
Howard County initiated a food scrap recycling pilot program in mid-2011. Elkridge residents were encouraged to participate on a volunteer basis.
The pilot encompasses the disposal of previously non-recyclable paper products like pizza boxes, paper egg cartons, ice cream containers, used paper towels and napkins containing food residue, etc.

Note to GABLES residents as a courtesy to your neighbors:
- Trash and other recycling or yard waste containers should be placed curbside no earlier than 4pm on the day before scheduled pick-up
- Emptied containers should be collected from the curb no later than 9pm on the day of pick-up
- Containers are to be stored “out of view” when not at curbside
